Today I wanted to share with you my first ever baby shower experience.
Being Irish, living in the UK it's quite a new concept, I know that they have been happening in America forever but we British/Irish are only starting to adopt the tradition.
I found it a very strange, new experience at first but it was fab.
The Mum to be
The mum to be in question was my gorgeous friend from work, Leanne and her friend decided to surprise her with a shower- cue lots of sneaking and private messaging.
Leanne thought she was going to a nice romantic meal with her other half and was very disappointed when the restaurant 'called to say that it had to close due to a flood' and she had to come home. (haha sneaky!)
She was so surprised when she saw us all in her house and even had a couple of tears bless her!
There were games like, guess the measurement of the bump and guess the amount of sweeties in the baby bottle which were fab.
Of course the main event was the presents. This is where I totally struggled. I couldn't find much to do with baby showers in the shops and as my friend hasn't found out the sex of the baby it's hard to buy really cute gender neutral baby clothes so I opted for a little baby grow from Next, a tiny little teddy and some pamper treats for Mum- it seemed to go down well and most of the others had the same idea.
Some people went with flowers and fab practical things like nappies and baby essentials which Leanne loved too.
All in all it was a fab day, lots of giggles, lots of cake, some wine and great company, I definitely think it's a fab tradition to adopt and the shops really need to get on the bandwagon and get some bits in!
