A bit of Reflection and My Top Beauty Products of 2014

Guys, I think this is my last post of 2014 so I thought I'd get a wee bit slushy with you:

I started this blog in February this year while going through a rough time, I was housebound and off work, this blog was a distraction and a hobby to keep me from going insane. What it's become is a foot in the door to a wonderful community, it's reignited a passion in me that I had forgotten for a few years, given me a hobby and got me some great friends. So thank you all for reading, leaving lovely comments and supporting me.

Anyway no more slushy crap lets get on to why you are really here- Beauty!!

You'll probably have seen all of these things featured in past posts but here they are. Like I said above I started by blog in February and reignited my passion for makeup. Some of these products will have been released before 2014 but I only discovered them this year.

Base Products

Primer- Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer.

Now I've played with primers before and I never really like any of them much and thought of them as a waste of time but this one is an everyday staple now. It's a gel-like consistency, hydrating, cheap as chip and really helps my makeup last a lot longer.

Foundation- Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude Foundation.

I've used so many different foundations this year. I loved wake me up, match perfection, dabbled with a Lancome and a Clinique but I think I have found, in this. my perfect foundation. Medium coverage, lasts all day, not too matte- fantastic.

Eye Palettes

TheBalm Nude'tude Palette and Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.

Nudes, browns and gold eyeshadows have become part of my everyday look and these two palettes are my favourites. A mix of mattes, satins and shimmers in each, cooler tones and a couple of warmer. I just love them. In 2015 I want more TheBalm things because this palette is excellent and the other stuff looks fantastic.

Real Techniques Brushes

I can't tell you how much of a revelation this buffing brush was to me. I love the thing and it's changed how I apply foundation forever. The blush brush is also a fantastic brush but this is representative of all real techniques brushes that I have tried. Love them.

Sleek Makeup

Sorry they are so grubby but Sleek has fast become one of my favourite brands this year. My two favourite products from them are this blush in Rose Gold and their Matte lipsticks, great quality at fantastic prices.

Purple Lipstick

If you had told me this time last year that I'd wear purple lipstick I'd have told you to catch yourself on but I love the stuff now. Above is sleek Mystic which is one of my favourites but I also absolutely love Mac heroine- I just couldn't find it for a photo...oops!

Eye Primer

Again I always knew about eye primer but never bought into it so much as I have this year. I've especially loved this one from Absolute (I think) I got in a glossy box in July, it really does help eyeshadow to last, stops creasing and increases colour payoff.

Tanya Burr Lipgloss

The picture isn't the exact one I love, Exotic Island is my favourite but I love the lipgloss in general, it has a lovely colour payoff, isn't overly sticky and smells amazing. They have been my favourite lip glosses this year.

They're Real Mascara

Again I was very late to the party with this but it is literally the only mascara that I can wear all day without it transferring, flaking or smudging. It's a pain to get off but a good cleansing balm or oil makes short work of it. I love it.

Lastly and by no means least is a brand that has taken the blogging world by storm:

Makeup Revolution

Again the photo is representative but this brand has been on point all year. I especially love their powder products- eyeshadow palettes, blushes, highlighters and their liquid concealer. They are producing some really good products at fantastic prices including some great dupes and my collection is ever growing.

So there you have it. What have you loved this year? Do you want to try anything I have mentioned. Let me know in the comments.
