Nail of the Week - Breast Cancer Awareness

Hi Guys. On the blog today is something a wee bit different. I've done Nail of the day/week posts before but this one is special.

October is breast cancer awareness month and I wanted to do something on my little tiny corner of the Internet to show my support for this and to also remind you ladies (and gents) out there to check your boobies.

I'm not going to get in to facts and figures (although I did research it and it is astounding) but cancer affects most of us in one way or another, whether that be a loved one, a friend of a friend or indeed ourselves. So I'd urge you to make sure you check on a regular basis and if you notice anything that is strange or that you didn't see before get yourselves off to the doctor straight away.

If you want some help or advice visit cancer research UK here, NHS website here or breast cancer care here.

The Nails

With that said I love that we have a whole month dedicated to talking about it and love the creative ways in which people show their support- and to show mine I thought I'd come up with a nail of the day incorporating the recognisable symbols like pink and the ribbon. I took some inspiration from the lovely Sam Schuerman but wanted something a little different.

What I used:
Basecoat- China glaze First and Last
Topcoat- Poshe Fast Drying topcoat
Essie- We're in it Together
OPI- Kiss me on my tulips
Gems- From amazon.

I started off with the Essie polish and did 2 coats on each nail apart from my ring finger on each hand where I did 2 coats of OPI Kiss me on my Tulips.
I then added some pink iridescent glitter to my pointer finger

I had decided that I wanted to incorporate the ribbon somewhere so, after a botched job at painting one on my ring finger, I decided gems were the way to go.

This took the most time out of everything as they wouldn't stay the right way up and they kept escaping my clutches but once I got there my ring finger looked like this:

To finish, I added my posh topcoat and this was the finished product:

I'm definitely no nail artist but I'm pretty proud of them. I hope you like them too. If you do recreate them please tag me in your pic on Instagram or twitter- @lozzyloveslippy or on Pinterest: lozzyloveslipy (just one p) I'd love to see them or let me know if you've done something different.
