Makeup Revolution Iconic 2- Naked 2 Dupe?

I've been meaning to do this post since I got this palette aaages ago. But I was kind of put off by the sheer amount of Makeup Revolution posts out there.

I was at a loose end the other day and thought- why the hell not! My readers would be interested in my point of view and if not- what is wrong with you folk? haha!
I use my Naked 2 every day so am well acquainted with it and have tried out the Iconic 2 a few times now.

So here it is- my comparison. The price firstly is vastly different £4 for Iconic 2 and £37 for Naked 2

Urban Decay Naked 2 dupe

As you can see the packaging is very different. Iconic comes in this cheapy plastic casing which is quite flimsy (I've broken it already) whereas naked comes in a nice tin box. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Iconic is slim and compact whereas naked is a bit more bulky. Naked has a mirror which is great for travelling and naked doesn't. Iconic has a sponge applicator (meh) and naked comes with a really nice dual ended brush.

You definitely get what you pay for in terms of packaging.

As you can see they are damn near identical in the pans- Sorry for the state of my naked 2- it's well loved.

Swatchy time! Urban Decay Naked 2 is the top row and Makeup Revolution Iconic2 in the Bottom

L-R Foxy, Half baked, bootycall, chopper, Tease and snakebite
On the first half the main differences are half baked is more foil like and metallic in the Naked 2 palette and the Iconic version is nice but a bit lack-lustre. Foxy is more cream toned than it's makeup revolution counterpart and tease is more pigmented and a bit warmer than the matte taupe in the Iconic palette.

L-R Suspect, Pistol, verve, YDK, busted, blackheart

I'm sure you can see for yourself there is a slight difference in pigmentation in the darker colours. The one that stands out for me is blackheart, this is a cult favourite and the black in the Iconic palette can't really hold it's own against it. To be fair though the busted dupe is more pigmented in the iconic palette.

Formula and Wearing

The shadows themselves are a tiny weeny bit more chalky than the smooth feel of the Naked shadows, there isn't really any fallout that I've noticed so they are still lovely shadows.

I also didn't notice much difference in terms of wear time. Maybe a slight nod in favour of Naked2 but I always use primer. Eyeshadow usually creases on me but I noticed that the Iconic2 didn't crease as much as other affordable eyeshadow and certainly no more than the Naked ones.

Beauty plus size

Please forgive the rest of my makeup- I am unwell and can't be bothered putting brows on for one pic haha! But this is half baked with tease in the crease over Maybelline eternal gold colour tattoo. The one of the left side of the pic is urban decay and the one on the right is the makeup revolution counterpart. As you can see there is very little difference once on the eyes.

Overall Verdict

Iconic 2 is a very good affordable dupe for the Naked 2 Palette. If I was to be buying it with my own money having never owned the Naked 2 I would buy the Makeup revolution. The only things I prefer with the Naked2 palette is the packaging, the mirror, the brush and a couple of the shadows.

What do you think? Have you tried both, do you want to try them? Let me know in the comments.
